A Beenleigh man has been charged with multiple drug and traffic offences following an early morning police intercept at Hope Island on 3 May.
Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch intercepted a white Nissan Navara on Hope Island Road around 5am for a routine licence check.
Police allege the 32-year-old driver was disqualified from driving at the time. During the interaction, officers detained the man to conduct a drug search.
It will be further alleged the man obstructed officers before attempting to flee across Hope Island Road. He was arrested following a short foot chase.
During a subsequent search, detectives allegedly located a quantity of methylamphetamine concealed inside the man's pants. Police also allegedly found drug utensils and a large amount of cash during a search of the Nissan Navara.
The Beenleigh man has been charged with multiple offences, including possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, driving while disqualified, possessing drug utensils and obstructing police.
He is due to reappear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 6 June.
