Tiger Woods Inks Significant Apparel Deal With Taylor Made
Tiger Woods has inked a significant apparel and footwear deal with TaylorMade, marking a pivotal move following his recent separation from Nike.
The iconic golfer and the Carlsbad, California-based company have formalized their collaboration to establish a new brand, Sun Day Red, focusing on performance and lifestyle products.
The Sun Day Red brand is set to debut exclusively online starting in May. Addressing the development, Woods emphasized the importance of this transition in his life, expressing a desire to align with a brand that he could be proud of moving forward.
The brand's name, Sun Day Red, is a nod to Woods' tradition of donning red attire on Sundays during golf tournaments.
The brand features a distinctive tiger logo, paying homage to Woods' remarkable achievement of wearing the logo in connection with his 15 major victories throughout his illustrious career.
The announcement was made during a press event in Pacific Palisades, California, preceding the PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational, an event hosted by Woods.
Woods' association with TaylorMade traces back to 2017 when the golfer and the company signed an equipment deal, encompassing the use of TaylorMade's driver, fairway woods, irons, and wedges.
Despite receiving interest from other companies, Woods expressed trust in TaylorMade's ability to "get it right."
TaylorMade CEO David Abeles acknowledged Woods' influence on the brand, citing the golfer's discipline and meticulous approach to product design as inspirational to the company's team.
Abeles clarified that the Sun Day Red brand operates independently from TaylorMade, with a separate entity comprising distinct headquarters and employees dedicated to its development.
This collaboration comes on the heels of Woods' separation from Nike, his apparel partner for 27 years.
While Woods' brand exposure has diminished due to injuries and sporadic appearances at golf tournaments, the deal is considered a significant win for TaylorMade.
Despite Woods' reduced on-course presence, he remains a golfing legend, attracting sizable crowds eager to witness the prowess of one of the greatest golfers of all time.
Speculation about a partnership between Woods and TaylorMade had circulated for months, with the company creating a new LLC, TaylorMade Lifestyle Ventures, and filing trademarks related to the Sun Day Red brand last year.
