Lewis Hamilton Leaves Mercedes – Joins Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton is set to depart Mercedes at the conclusion of the 2024 season and embark on a new journey with Formula One adversaries Ferrari, having inked a multi-year deal slated to commence in 2025.

Despite having recently extended his contract with Mercedes for two years in the previous summer, the 39-year-old driver has opted to activate a break clause embedded in the agreement after just one year.

Expressing his sentiments on the departure, Hamilton acknowledged the profound impact Mercedes has had on his life, spanning 11 years, stating, "Mercedes has been part of my life since I was 13 years old.

It's a place where I have grown up, so making the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.

But the time is right for me to take this step, and I'm excited to be taking on a new challenge."

This significant move marks one of the most notable driver transfers in Formula 1, if not the most substantial.

Hamilton is poised to team up with Charles Leclerc in 2025, spelling the conclusion of Spaniard Carlos Sainz's tenure as a Ferrari driver.

Having joined Mercedes from McLaren in 2013, Hamilton clinched six of his seven championships with the team and secured 82 of his record 103 victories with the Silver Arrows.

Toto Wolff, the team principal, lauded the partnership as the most successful in the sport's history, expressing pride in their accomplishments.
