Chinese automaker BYD has recently revealed its latest electric supercar, the U9, positioned to compete with renowned luxury brands like Ferrari.

This cutting-edge vehicle, a flagship of BYD's upscale Yangwang brand introduced just last year, boasts impressive performance metrics akin to high-end models from industry giants.

According to BYD, the U9 is capable of achieving a top speed of 309.19 kph (192.12 mph) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.36 seconds.

These specifications align with the capabilities of established supercar manufacturers such as Ferrari, whose SF90 Stradale hybrid model, for instance, accelerates to 100 kph in 2.5 seconds.

Pricing for the U9 will commence at 1.68 million yuan ($233,424), with deliveries scheduled to commence in the upcoming summer, as per BYD's official statement.

Powering the U9 is the innovative e4 Platform, coupled with BYD's proprietary DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System.

BYD, having produced over 3 million new-energy vehicles in 2023, with more than half being battery-only passenger cars and the rest hybrids, demonstrates its stronghold in the electric vehicle market.

While BYD's primary focus remains on production and sales within China, the company is actively pursuing global expansion, aiming to establish a significant presence in the international automotive market.
