Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed on Wednesday that the tech giant is making substantial investments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), signaling a strong embrace of the generative AI trend.

During Apple's virtual annual shareholder meeting, Cook highlighted the remarkable breakthrough potential of generative AI and emphasized the company's significant financial commitment to this area.

Cook stated, "We see incredible breakthrough potential for generative AI, which is why we're currently investing significantly in this area.

We believe it will unlock transformative opportunities for our users in terms of productivity, problem-solving, and more."

While Apple has not yet introduced products directly competing with models like OpenAI's GPT or Google's Gemini, Cook hinted at a major announcement scheduled for later this year.

He expressed anticipation about sharing groundbreaking developments in generative AI, describing it as a technology capable of redefining the future.

In a noteworthy shift, Cook also reframed several previously announced Apple products as "AI-powered," emphasizing the company's long-standing involvement in advancing this technology.

Traditionally, Apple had preferred the term "machine learning" over AI, but this recent move underscores their commitment to pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence.
