A significant boost to policing in one of Queensland's fastest-growing regions has been delivered with the opening of a new $38 million police facility in Ripley.

The purpose-built site will serve as the Ipswich District Headquarters and support approximately 200 personnel, including an additional 30 frontline officers assigned to the Ripley Division. The three-storey complex spans nearly 9,000 square metres and is designed to strengthen policing capacity across the region.

Bringing multiple specialist units together under one roof, the facility houses the Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Vulnerable Persons Unit, Forensics, and District Intelligence. The co-location of these teams is expected to improve coordination, response times, and outcomes for victims.

The new division has been operational since February, increasing police visibility and enhancing rapid response capabilities across Ripley, South Ripley, Swanbank and nearby suburbs-an area covering roughly 120 square kilometres.

The development forms part of a broader government investment of $290.3 million into new and upgraded police infrastructure statewide. Officials say the initiative is aimed at addressing population growth and improving community safety.

Authorities also point to early results from their broader policing strategy, citing a 7.2 per cent reduction in victims of crime in 2025 compared to the previous year.

Police leadership says the facility provides a modern, well-equipped working environment for officers while ensuring capacity to meet future demand as the Ipswich region continues to expand.
