State's Food and Beverage Industry Showcased at Major Retail Expo
Tasmanian food and beverage producers are being showcased on a dedicated state stand for the first time at one of Australia's largest supplier-to-retailer trade events.
Around 10 Tasmanian businesses are taking part in the Co-operative Supermarkets Australia Direct2Store Expo, being held in Sydney from today until Friday, 8 May 2026.
Tasmanian Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett said the event provides valuable opportunities for local producers to strengthen their presence in mainland markets and grow their businesses.
"Domestic trade is a vital part of Tasmania's export economy," Mr Barnett said.
"Every year, Tasmanian businesses sell billions of dollars' worth of goods into mainland Australia, with the latest figures estimating domestic exports at more than $27.8 billion.
"The Australian mainland remains Tasmania's largest export destination and often serves as the launch pad for future international trade success.
"For many Tasmanian businesses, selling interstate is the first and most important step in their export journey."
Mr Barnett said participation in the Direct2Store Expo demonstrates how Tasmanian businesses are building export capability through targeted government support programs.
"We know businesses are operating in uncertain global conditions, which is why we are focused on keeping Tasmania's economy strong, resilient and ready for future growth," he said.
"Trade showcases like this connect Tasmanian producers directly with retail decision-makers from across the country.
"They create opportunities to promote new products, secure distribution deals and establish long-term commercial partnerships that support sustainable growth and local jobs."
Businesses participating on the Tasmanian stand include:
- Artisa
- Elly's Gourmet Confectionery
- Kelty Farm
- Scottsdale Pork
- Boks Bacon
- Taz Wild Foods
- Cripps
Meanwhile, Spreyton Fresh, Blue Hills Honey, Cripps and Boks Bacon will also feature at the expo with their own independent stands.
