Adelaide Hotel Boom Continues with New Hilton East End Development
Adelaide's hotel and accommodation sector is continuing its rapid expansion, with a new Hilton development in the city's East End adding to a record pipeline of investment across the metropolitan area.
The Hilton Adelaide East End will be constructed at 299 Pirie Street, strengthening the global brand's long-standing connection with the South Australian capital.
The 27-storey development will feature 251 guest rooms and form part of Arcadia, a modern mixed-use precinct designed to revitalise the eastern side of the CBD. The project is being developed by Auriga Investments under a franchise agreement with Hilton and will be operated by Trilogy Hotels.
The latest announcement adds to a significant wave of hotel construction activity underway across Adelaide. Fifteen hotels are currently in various stages of development, including 11 projects within the CBD.
Among the major developments is the 35-storey Treehouse Hotel adjacent to the Adelaide Central Market, which is expected to be completed later this year.
Outside the CBD, four hotel developments are progressing across metropolitan Adelaide, including the nearly completed five-storey Panaroma Hotel on Goodwood Road. Last year also saw the opening of two new properties - the George Hotel at Glenelg and Urban Rest Hackney Hotel.
Collectively, Adelaide's hotel pipeline is set to deliver an additional 2,161 rooms to the city's accommodation sector.
The city's long-standing Hilton hotel in Victoria Square was also sold last year to Thailand-based Amora Hotels and Resorts, which plans to invest $40 million into transforming the property into a five-star luxury destination.
The announcement coincides with Adelaide hosting more than 1,500 hotel investors and industry leaders for the Asia Pacific Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition this week.
Premier Peter Malinauskas said the strong growth in hotel investment reflected South Australia's growing economic momentum and increasing appeal to investors.
He said major events, including MotoGP, were helping drive demand for accommodation while also supporting jobs, tourism and the broader hospitality sector.
The Premier said Adelaide's hosting of the Asia Pacific Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition would further strengthen opportunities for future investment and partnerships within the industry.
Tourism Minister Emily Bourke said the new developments reinforced South Australia's reputation as a world-class tourism destination.
She said the state's unique visitor experiences and major events calendar continued to attract travellers from across Australia and overseas, making continued growth in accommodation capacity essential.
Ms Bourke also welcomed Hilton's continued investment in Adelaide, saying the new East End development would mark an exciting new chapter for the brand in the city.
