The S&P 500 was virtually unchanged in late trading after drifting between small gains and losses, still near its all-time high set earlier this month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 48 points, or 0.1%, with roughly an hour remaining in trading. The Nasdaq composite slipped 0.1% from its own record set the day before.
