A woman has died following a tragic traffic incident on the Pacific Motorway at Loganholme on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the northbound lanes near Exit 30 about 3.40pm after reports of a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Early investigations indicate the drivers of a white Audi hatchback and a black MG station wagon had pulled over on the side of the motorway to exchange details after a minor crash.

Police allege that as the Audi driver, a woman aged in her 30s, was returning to her vehicle, she was struck by a white Isuzu dual-cab ute travelling northbound.

The woman suffered critical injuries and died at the scene despite emergency response efforts.

The driver of the Isuzu, a man also aged in his 30s, stopped near the Logan Motorway exit at Tanah Merah and is assisting investigators with inquiries.

The incident triggered significant traffic disruptions, with two additional nose-to-tail crashes occurring shortly afterwards in the same northbound lanes.

The Pacific Motorway was closed for several hours while officers from the Forensic Crash Unit examined the scene. Traffic resumed shortly after 8.30pm.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or captured dashcam footage in the area at the time to come forward.

Motorists are also being reminded to exercise caution on Queensland roads and remain vigilant when travelling, particularly on high-speed motorways.
