The Queensland Government has announced new funding to strengthen support services for victims of crime, reinforcing its commitment to prioritising victim recovery and safety.

A $300,000 grant has been awarded to the Voice for Victims Foundation to expand its victim-led support service, which provides practical and emotional assistance to people impacted by crime across the state.

The funding forms part of the Government's broader strategy to improve community safety and ensure victims receive the help they need to rebuild their lives.

Established as a grassroots movement, the Voice for Victims Foundation became a registered charity in March 2026. The organisation focuses on supporting victims of serious offences, including violent property crimes, grievous bodily harm and attempted murder-areas where support has historically been limited.

Minister for Youth Justice and Victim Support Laura Gerber said the investment reflects the Government's commitment to strengthening victim support services.

"We made a commitment to Queenslanders to restore safety and reduce the number of victims of crime, and this funding is part of delivering on that promise," Minister Gerber said.

"We are focused on ensuring victims are properly supported as they recover, with practical assistance and stronger systems in place."

Chief Advocacy Officer of the Voice for Victims Foundation, Trudy Reading, welcomed the funding and said it would allow the organisation to expand its reach.

"Our mission is to stand beside victims and ensure no one has to face the aftermath of crime alone," Ms Reading said.

"We provide hands-on support and guidance, particularly for those affected by serious violent offences, where gaps in assistance have existed."

The Government says the funding complements its wider efforts to improve community safety through stronger laws, increased policing, early intervention and rehabilitation initiatives.
