Police are investigating a fatal collision in Ravenhall this morning, after a van crashed into the back of a parked semi-trailer.

Emergency services were called to Fuller Road, about 20 kilometres west of Melbourne’s CBD, shortly before 8am on Wednesday.

According to Victoria Police, the delivery van collided with the stationary truck around 7.50am. The impact left the front half of the van crushed beneath the semi-trailer.

The driver of the van, a 57-year-old man from Werribee, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been formally confirmed.

Footage from the scene showed the van wedged under the trailer for more than three hours as authorities worked to determine whether any other occupants were inside.

Fire Rescue Victoria, Ambulance Victoria, and the State Emergency Service all attended the scene.

The exact circumstances of the crash remain unclear, and the investigation by Melton Highway Patrol is ongoing.
