Greg Lynn's Murder Conviction Overturned, New Trial Ordered
Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn has had his conviction for the murder of Carol Clay quashed by the Victoria Court of Appeal.
Mr Lynn was found guilty by a Supreme Court jury last year of killing Ms Clay at a remote campsite in Victoria's High Country in March 2020, though he was acquitted of murdering her friend, Russell Hill.
Throughout the proceedings, Mr Lynn insisted he was not responsible for the pair's deaths, claiming they were the result of accidental incidents during a confrontation involving a knife and one of his firearms.
On Thursday, Court of Appeal President Justice Karin Emerton ruled there was a "substantial" risk that a miscarriage of justice had occurred at the original trial.
