A 49-year-old man is facing 69 charges after police allegedly uncovered a significant haul of weapons, drugs, and child exploitation material during a three-day search of a Kearneys Spring property earlier this month.

Between July 16 and 18, officers from multiple specialist units-including the Toowoomba Protracted Operations Team, Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection Investigation Unit, Property Crime Unit, Tactical Crime Squad, and the Forensic Search Investigation Team-executed a crime scene warrant at a Milton Street address.

During the extensive search, police allegedly discovered 14 firearms, a 3D-printed gun silencer, 1,147 rounds of ammunition, 250 grams of gunpowder, and a range of drugs and paraphernalia. Items reportedly found include 16 grams of methylamphetamine, 50 grams of testosterone, 5 grams of amphetamine, 15 restricted medications, several knives, and a taser.

The man has been charged with multiple offences, including:

  • Four counts each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing relevant substances or things, and possessing or acquiring restricted items
  • Three counts of unlawful possession of Category M weapons
  • Two counts relating to Schedule 1 dangerous drugs in quantities exceeding Schedule 3 but below Schedule 4
  • One count each of unlawful possession of 10 or more weapons (with at least five being Category D/E/H/R), possession of Schedule 2 dangerous drugs in a Schedule 3 quantity, possessing drug production instructions, failure to follow safety and storage measures for restricted items, unlawful possession of explosives, possession of Schedule 4 and Schedule 8 medicines or hazardous poisons, and multiple offences relating to drug utensils and tainted property

In addition, the man faces 42 charges related to child exploitation material following the alleged discovery of two mobile phones containing illegal content.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on September 15.

Detective Inspector Renee Garske of the Darling Downs District said the investigation reflects the ongoing efforts of police to combat serious criminal activity in the region.

"Identifying and apprehending offenders involved in the possession of dangerous weapons and illicit substances is a high priority," Inspector Garske said.

"We remain committed to removing these threats from our communities and to protecting our most vulnerable, particularly children, from harm."
