Have Your Say on New Cycleways
The Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has secured funding from the Queensland Government to explore new active transport routes as part of the Newtown to City Centre Active Transport Project-and now, the community is being invited to help shape the outcome.
Council has launched the first phase of community consultation to identify the most suitable cycleway connections through a new online survey on the Your Say platform.
Transport and Drainage Planning portfolio spokesperson, Councillor Trevor Manteufel, encouraged residents to get involved and share their thoughts.
"The Your Say online survey will be open from Monday, 4 August to Monday, 25 August. We're asking the community to take a few moments to complete it," Cr Manteufel said.
"Council is committed to building and maintaining safe, efficient, and accessible cycleways-and your feedback is crucial in helping us do that."
This early consultation focuses on identifying potential routes for a key east-west link between Newtown and the Toowoomba City Centre, covering the area from Tor Street to West Creek. Council is also seeking feedback on proposed north-south connections that would link into the preferred east-west alignment.
"This project is a great opportunity to support healthier, more active lifestyles in our region," Cr Manteufel said.
"Community feedback during this stage will help guide the next phase of planning and design."
There will be further opportunities for public input once concept designs are developed for the preferred route.
