Red Frogs Toowoomba has received a generous boost to support its youth-focused programs, thanks to proceeds from the 2025 Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast.

Held in May at Rumours International, the annual event raised $9,144.60, which was officially presented today (Thursday, July 17, 2025) at Toowoomba City Hall. Mayor Geoff McDonald handed over the ceremonial cheque to Red Frogs Toowoomba coordinator Andre Henare.

Mayor McDonald commended the dedicated work of the local Red Frogs team, which includes more than 100 volunteers supporting communities across the Toowoomba Region and further west, beyond Ipswich.

"These volunteers play a vital role in safeguarding the wellbeing of young people through school education initiatives, support at boarding houses and parties, and workplace engagement sessions like toolbox talks for apprentices - often delivered with a side of pancakes," Mayor McDonald said.

"They also run weekly mental health support programs at local universities and provide hydration stations and wellbeing services at various music and sporting events.

"Beyond handing out their trademark red frog lollies, they offer young people access to positive peer role models and meaningful guidance."

Mayor McDonald thanked everyone involved in making this year's event a success.

"I'm grateful to all attendees, sponsors, and longstanding supporters of the Prayer Breakfast. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $335,000 for regional charities," he said.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the organising committee led by Pastor Andrew Hoey, Senior Minister at Rangeville Community Church, along with guest speakers, performers, Rumours staff, TAFE Queensland South West hospitality students, student volunteers from St Saviour's and St Joseph's Colleges, and the State Emergency Service volunteers.

"I look forward to another successful breakfast in 2026," Mayor McDonald added.

Red Frogs Toowoomba coordinator Andre Henare said the funds would directly support several key initiatives including boarding house outreach, the Skatepark Shepherds program, and associated sports programs.
