What’s better than the largest cruise ship at sea? Two of the largest cruise ships at sea. Royal Caribbean has announced the name of the second ship in its yet-to-be-launched Icon class - Star of the Seas - which is anticipated to debut in summer 2025.
For now, details are scant about the giant ship. What we do know is that it’s the sibling of the world’s largest cruise ship Icon of the Seas, a 250,8000-gross-ton vessel that will start sailing with passengers (up to 7,600 of them at a time) in January 2024.
That ship has a theme park, a water park, an indoor AquaTheatre, mini golf, three-story suites, and the first swim-up bar at sea, to name but a few amenities. So, yes, we can expect Star of the Seas to be massive.
“The idea of combining the best of every type of vacation into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated, and Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record-breaking consumer demand we've seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas,” Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said in a statement.
