Woman charged with 19 serious offences, Gracemere
A 23-year-old Gracemere woman has been charged with 19 serious offences following a series of alleged incidents across Rockhampton and Gracemere during a State Flying Squad deployment.
Police allege the woman first offended on January 10, when she broke into a business at Wandal, causing damage and stealing multiple sets of car keys before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle, which was later damaged.
It is further alleged the woman then attempted to break into two homes in Gracemere, trespassing and making threats while demanding access to a vehicle. Police claim she subsequently entered a third Gracemere residence, where she stole car keys and a mobile phone before taking a vehicle.
During the alleged incident, police say the woman assaulted a 70-year-old woman, causing injuries, before she was detained and arrested by local officers.
Police also allege that on January 11, the woman assaulted a police officer, causing bodily harm, and obstructed another officer in the execution of their duties.
Officers from the State Flying Squad and local police searched the woman and the vehicles involved, allegedly locating stolen property and drug utensils.
The woman has been charged with a wide range of offences, including robbery with violence, serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm, multiple counts of attempted enter dwelling with intent, unlawful use of motor vehicles, enter dwelling with intent with violence, demand property with menace, wilful damage, trespass, fraud, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of used drug utensils, driving while disqualified, driving under the influence of liquor, and obstructing police.
She was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on February 5.
Capricornia District Superintendent Mark Burgess said the arrest highlighted the importance of targeted police operations.
"Apprehending serious offenders of this nature delivers significant benefits to the Rockhampton community," Superintendent Burgess said.
"We're sending a clear message that violent behaviour toward police or members of the public will not be tolerated. We will continue using all available resources, including the State Flying Squad, to target repeat offenders and improve community safety."
