New bus upgrades roll out for safer, smoother school travel across South East Queensland
Families across South East Queensland are set for a calmer start to the school year, with the Queensland Government rolling out new and improved bus services designed to better align with school start times and growing community needs.
The updated network includes 14 new school routes and 232 route changes, aimed at improving reliability, easing overcrowding and ensuring students can travel to and from school safely and on time as Term 1 begins.
As part of broader cost-of-living relief, the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares will continue to apply across the public transport network, helping families manage back-to-school expenses.
Parents and carers are encouraged to check the TransLink School Service Finder or Journey Planner before the first day of term, as some routes, timetables and stops may differ from last year.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the changes were focused on reducing stress for families while keeping students safe.
"A smooth morning routine can make all the difference on the first day back at school," Minister Mickelberg said.
"By improving routes, timetables and stops-and making sure services line up with new bell times-we're helping families settle into the school year with confidence."
Eligible families may also access support through the School Transport Assistance Scheme, which provides help with transport costs for students affected by distance, income or geographic isolation.
For schools or services not listed in the online journey planner, families are advised to contact their local bus operator directly, as different fare conditions may apply.
