The Crisafulli Government has announced the appointment of respected corporate affairs executive Shane Goodwin to the Board of the South Bank Corporation, reinforcing the board's leadership as the iconic Brisbane precinct enters its next phase of growth and revitalisation.

Mr Goodwin brings more than two decades of senior experience across both the public and private sectors, with a career spanning community engagement, reputation management, and strategic corporate affairs. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen governance and ensure South Bank continues to evolve as one of Queensland's most important cultural, tourism and lifestyle destinations.

Across his career, Mr Goodwin has worked extensively with large organisations, industry associations and government, providing high-level advice on major infrastructure projects, community development initiatives and complex regulatory environments. He is widely regarded for his ability to navigate competing stakeholder interests and build constructive, long-term partnerships between government, business and the community.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the appointment would support South Bank as it plans for the future and responds to growing demand from residents, visitors and businesses.

"South Bank is one of Queensland's most iconic precincts, a lasting legacy of Expo '88 that continues to bring communities together while supporting a thriving cultural, social and economic hub," Mr Bleijie said.

"Shane Goodwin's extensive experience in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement will be invaluable as we plan the precinct's next chapter and ensure South Bank remains a place Queenslanders are proud of.

"His background in navigating complex public policy settings and major project environments means he will bring strong insight, balance and leadership to the Corporation's board."

Mr Goodwin was nominated by Brisbane City Council, reflecting his strong ties to the city and his understanding of Brisbane's long-term planning and development priorities. He will serve on the board until 31 December 2026, aligning with the expiry of the current terms of other board members and providing continuity in governance.

The appointment comes as South Bank continues to play a central role in Queensland's cultural and tourism economy, hosting major events, supporting arts and entertainment institutions, and attracting millions of visitors each year. The precinct is also a key contributor to inner-city employment and economic activity, with ongoing investment aimed at maintaining its appeal as a world-class riverside destination.

With experience across industries including property, infrastructure and financial services, Mr Goodwin is expected to contribute a broad commercial and strategic perspective to the board's deliberations. His appointment underscores the Crisafulli Government's focus on strong governance, experienced leadership and collaborative partnerships to support Queensland's most significant public assets.
