Police are continuing to investigate the death of a woman at a property in Buccan, south of Brisbane, after a man was arrested interstate.

A 36-year-old Buccan man was arrested in Kempsey, New South Wales, on Monday following investigations into the death of a 46-year-old woman whose body was found at a home on Waterford Tamborine Road in the early hours of January 12.

The man is expected to appear before a New South Wales court on Tuesday. Detectives from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit are travelling to New South Wales to speak with him in relation to the matter.

Emergency services were first alerted after the woman was reported missing from Ashgrove at about 1am on Monday. Police believe she was last seen around 7pm on Saturday, January 10, after dropping a relative at a home in The Gap.

Following enquiries, officers attended the Buccan property to conduct a welfare check at about 2.30am. Police located the woman deceased inside the residence, where she was found with injuries. No other people were present at the property.

A crime scene was declared and forensic examinations commenced. The State Emergency Service is assisting police in searches of the surrounding five-acre property.

Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson said early investigations suggested the woman may have been acting as a carer for the man who was later located in New South Wales.

"Investigators are working to determine the exact nature of their relationship, including whether it was connected to her employment," Acting Detective Inspector Anderson said.

Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to formally determine the cause of death. Investigations remain ongoing.

Anyone with information that may assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
