Drug and firearm charges laid after police raid in Burdekin

Police have charged a man and a woman following the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, cash and a firearm during a raid in Home Hill. Officers attended a Third Avenue address and during the search, police allegedly located and seized around one kilogram of methylamphetamine, 87 grams of MDMA, approximately $93,000 in cash and a firearm.

Police have charged a man and a woman following the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, cash and a firearm during a raid in Home Hill.

Officers attended a Third Avenue address about 8.40am on Tuesday, January 21, to execute a search warrant. During the search, police allegedly located and seized around one kilogram of methylamphetamine, 87 grams of MDMA, approximately $93,000 in cash and a firearm.

A 40-year-old Home Hill man and a 30-year-old woman from Ayr were taken into custody at the scene.

The man has been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing utensils or pipes, and one count of receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying. He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today, January 22.

The woman has been charged with one count of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing utensils or pipes. She was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Ayr Magistrates Court on March 9.
