Long queues and confusion marred Tuesday night's Lady Gaga concert in Brisbane, with frustrated fans reporting waits of several hours to enter Lang Park.

Stadium officials said "technical issues" uncovered during a sound check forced the gates to open nearly 50 minutes late, triggering large crowds to build in the hot weather.

"The delay created a backlog of patrons on the stadium's external plazas," a spokesperson said. "This backlog compounded the already late entry process, leading to unusually long wait times."

While the concert was scheduled to begin at 7pm, Lady Gaga did not take the stage until around 7:40pm. According to the venue, about 95 per cent of ticket-holders were inside by that time, and queues had fully cleared by 7:52pm.

The MAYHEM Ball tour marks Lady Gaga's first return to Australian stages since 2014's ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour.

Lang Park said it will conduct an "extensive debrief" with stakeholders in the coming days to address the incident.
