Truck Driver Charged Over Deadly Crash Near Bega

A 21-year-old truck driver has been charged following a fatal multi-vehicle crash on the New South Wales South Coast.

A 21-year-old truck driver has been charged following a fatal multi-vehicle crash on the New South Wales South Coast.

Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway at Frogs Hollow, around 13 kilometres south of Bega, shortly after 11:15am on Thursday, 7 August 2025, after reports of a serious collision.

Police from the South Coast Police District arrived to find three vehicles involved - a Toyota utility, a Mazda SUV, and a Kenworth prime mover.

The driver of the Toyota, a 54-year-old man, died at the scene despite efforts by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

A 78-year-old man driving the Mazda and his 77-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to Bega Hospital for treatment.

The truck driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. He was later arrested and taken to Bega Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving occasioning death.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday, 23 September 2025.

Crash Investigation Unit officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
