Two people have walked away with only minor injuries after a light aircraft crash-landed on a golf course in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The incident occurred just after 2pm on Sunday during a training flight, with both a flight instructor and student on board. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed the aircraft was a Piper Cherokee.

Aerial vision showed the plane resting on the Mona Vale Golf Club course with one wing visibly damaged and its wheels apparently detached during the landing.

NSW Ambulance said both occupants, aged in their 50s, were treated at the scene before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for further assessment. One of them sustained minor facial injuries.

Investigators are yet to determine the cause of the crash landing, though authorities say early indications suggest possible engine trouble.
