Three United States service members have been killed and several others injured during ongoing military operations in the Middle East, according to an update released by US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Sunday morning.

In a statement posted to social media, CENTCOM confirmed that the fatalities occurred as part of Operation Epic Fury, a major military campaign currently underway in the region. Officials said five additional personnel suffered serious injuries, while several others sustained minor wounds, including shrapnel injuries and concussions.

Military authorities indicated that those with less severe injuries are undergoing medical assessment and are expected to return to active duty once cleared.

"Major combat operations continue and our response effort remains ongoing," CENTCOM said, describing the situation as rapidly evolving. Officials added that further operational details are being withheld out of respect for the families of those killed.

The identities of the fallen service members have not yet been released. Military protocol requires that next of kin be formally notified before names are made public, a process expected to take at least 24 hours.

Escalating Regional Tensions

While the precise circumstances surrounding the deaths have not been disclosed, the casualties come amid a sharp escalation in hostilities across the Middle East. Iran has launched retaliatory strikes targeting US military installations following recent American and Israeli attacks in the region, according to defence officials.

Multiple US bases have reportedly faced missile and drone threats since Saturday, raising concerns about a widening conflict and increased risks to deployed personnel.

Presidential Warning Ahead of Operation

Earlier on Saturday, President Donald Trump acknowledged the potential dangers facing American forces, warning in a video address that casualties were possible as military operations intensified.

The statement underscored growing fears that the confrontation could expand beyond isolated engagements, placing US troops stationed throughout the region at heightened risk.

Situation Remains Uncertain

Defence officials emphasised that the operational environment remains fluid, with combat activities continuing and assessments ongoing. Military planners are closely monitoring developments as response measures unfold.

Further updates are expected as more information becomes available and official notifications to families are completed.
