Queensland Government ensures housing support continues over festive season
The Queensland Government has assured Queenslanders that homelessness and housing support services will continue operating throughout the Christmas-New Year period, ensuring help remains available for those who need it most.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering record investment in crisis accommodation and frontline homelessness services, providing vital support to vulnerable Queenslanders during what can be a particularly challenging and isolating time of year.
Queenslanders experiencing homelessness, or at risk of losing their housing, are encouraged to reach out for assistance through state-funded Specialist Homeless Services, the 24-hour Homelessness Hotline and 13 QGOV, all of which will remain operational over the holiday period.
Minister for Housing and Public Works Sam O'Connor said the government was committed to ensuring support remained accessible during the festive season.
"Christmas can be incredibly difficult for people without a safe and secure place to call home, which is why it's so important Queenslanders know they're not alone and that help is available right through the holiday period," Minister O'Connor said.
"Our state-funded homelessness and housing services do an outstanding job every day supporting vulnerable Queenslanders.
"I want to thank all frontline workers across the housing system for their tireless efforts throughout 2025, and especially those who will be working over the holidays to support people doing it tough. Their compassion and dedication make a real difference."
Housing Service Centres will close at 4:30pm on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, and will reopen at 8:30am on Friday, 2 January 2026.
Support remains available during this time through the following services:
- Urgent housing support: 13 QGOV (13 74 68)
- Homelessness Hotline: 1800 474 753 (24 hours)
- Emergency social housing maintenance: 1800 808 107
- Tenant self-service: www.qld.gov.au/tenantselfservice
- Tenant Assist Qld app: Public housing tenants can check rent balances and update contact details
- Housing Assist Qld app: Apply for or check bond loan balances and access housing information
The Queensland Government continues to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders, ensuring support is available when it is needed most.
