Fatal single-vehicle crash in Gundiah claims life of 71-year-old man

A 71-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Gundiah, south of Maryborough, on Saturday afternoon, 20 December. Emergency services were called to Bauple Woolooga Road about 3.20pm after reports a silver Subaru Forester had left the roadway, veered off a bridge and entered the Mary River.

A 71-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Gundiah, south of Maryborough, on Saturday afternoon, 20 December.

Emergency services were called to Bauple Woolooga Road about 3.20pm after reports a silver Subaru Forester had left the roadway, veered off a bridge and entered the Mary River.

Members of the public entered the water in an attempt to assist the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Police divers later attended the scene and located the man, a 71-year-old from Newtown, deceased inside the vehicle.

Police are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the Subaru prior to the crash to come forward. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
