In a historic tribute, the Government of India has released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of Shri Purshottamdas H. Purohit - a renowned businessman and social worker originally from Rajasthan who made a significant impact in Maharashtra. This marks the first time a member of the Rajpurohit Brahmin community has been featured on a national postage stamp.
The stamp was officially unveiled in Mumbai by His Excellency Haribhau Bagde, Governor of Rajasthan, in the presence of several dignitaries including Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Rajya Sabha MP, Dr. Bhagwat Karad, and Navi Mumbai Postmaster General Suchita Joshi.

The event also included the soft launch of a book cover titled “Adarsh Manav: Purshottamdas Purohit”, authored by his son Jagadish P. Purohit, which chronicles the life and legacy of the late Purshottamdas H. Purohit.
Family members and trustees of the P.H. Purohit (Rawatsingh) Charitable Trust - including Vinod Purohit, Ghanshyam Purohit, Jagadish Purohit, Bharat Purohit, Manish Purohit, Sanam Purohit, Sangramsingh Purohit, and Ashutosh Purohit - were present at the ceremony, paying tribute to Purohit’s lifelong dedication to public service.
