IMPACT Community Services has been awarded a new five-year logistics contract with Container Exchange, the not-for-profit operator of Queensland's Containers for Change program, ensuring the organisation will continue managing container collection services throughout the Bundaberg region.

The contract, which took effect on 1 November 2025, extends IMPACT's long-standing role in providing reliable and efficient logistics for the region's Container Refund Points (CRPs). IMPACT was chosen through a competitive tender process, further cementing its reputation for strong recycling operations and successful social enterprise initiatives.

Recycling and Collections Manager Gavin Steele said the renewed contract highlights the strength of the partnership between IMPACT and Container Exchange, as well as the capability of IMPACT's skilled team.

"This contract is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our recycling and logistics teams," Mr Steele said. "We're proud to continue supporting the Containers for Change scheme, which not only benefits the environment but also creates meaningful employment opportunities for people in our community."

More than 45 million containers are collected across the Bundaberg region each year.

In addition to delivering logistics services, IMPACT operates two CRPs-ABC Recycling in East Bundaberg and another site at 78 University Drive beside the region's Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The organisation also oversees the processing contract for the recycling scheme.

The announcement follows Bundaberg Regional Council's recent decision to grant IMPACT a long-term agreement to manage the region's MRF for up to another decade. The facility processes around 6,000 tonnes of recyclables annually.

IMPACT Managing Director Tanya O'Shea said the organisation remains committed to environmental stewardship and inclusive employment.

"Our recycling operations are more than just waste management; they're about creating impact," Mrs O'Shea said. "More than 60 people work across our recycling social enterprise, including 30 supported employees. At IMPACT, our vision is to improve lives. We work with others to create opportunities, and our recycling enterprise is a powerful example of this in action."

IMPACT has worked with Container Exchange since the Containers for Change program began in 2018 and says it is eager to continue partnering with local residents, businesses, and organisations to build a cleaner, more sustainable future for the Bundaberg region.
