Elon Musk Not Donating Money to Trump or Biden

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, declared on Wednesday that he will refrain from contributing funds to the election campaigns of either President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, X, Musk emphasized his clear stance, stating, "Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President."

This announcement followed a report by The New York Times, revealing Musk's meeting with Trump and a group of affluent Republican donors over the weekend in Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump's Mar-a-Lago club is located.

Elon Musk, boasting an estimated net worth of $195 billion, is recognized as one of the wealthiest individuals globally.

As the head of SpaceX, Musk holds the potential to support Trump or Biden through avenues other than direct contributions to their campaigns.

One option is contributing to a political action committee (PAC) aligned with either candidate. The impact of any substantial donation from Musk could significantly influence the trajectory of a candidate's campaign.

Despite Musk's tendency to express political opinions on social media, he is not a regular major donor to political campaigns.

In the 2018 midterm election cycle, Musk made several contributions to both Republican and Democratic committees, each amounting to $33,900, in support of congressional candidates.

However, at the time of reporting, Musk has not responded to inquiries regarding his intentions to contribute to a pro-Biden or pro-Trump PAC.
