Trump Tells Israel It Has Nothing to Fear From Renewed Iran War

US President Donald Trump has sought to reassure Israel that it should not be concerned about a possible resumption of direct hostilities with Iran, saying Washington would take responsibility for dealing with the situation.

In an interview with Israeli broadcaster Kan, Trump reportedly said Israel had no reason to worry about renewed fighting because, as US president, he would "take care of it."

Trump's comments come as tensions between Washington and Tehran have risen sharply following a new exchange of military strikes. The latest escalation has fuelled concerns that the conflict could widen across the Middle East.

The US president has also indicated that he does not expect the renewed conflict with Iran to continue for an extended period, although he has not provided a specific timetable for an end to the fighting.

Trump's reassurance followed warnings from Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who said Israel was prepared to respond with "great force" if Iran launched an attack during the upcoming Jewish holiday period.

Katz said Israel was closely monitoring the situation and remained prepared to respond to any Iranian attack, including one that could occur during the High Holy Days.

The contrasting messages highlight the delicate security situation facing Israel as the latest US-Iran confrontation threatens to develop into a broader regional crisis.

While Trump has sought to reassure Israel and indicated that Washington remains prepared to act, Israeli officials continue to warn that Iran could target Israel and that the country's military is ready to respond.

For now, both sides remain on high alert as diplomatic efforts to contain the renewed confrontation face uncertainty.
